Spellup change, pet experience levels, other updates. Lasher, October 28, 2010 A number of minor changes and updates went live today. The first three are the most important for most players: Pets and charmees no longer have any affect on experience gained for a kill. There is no longer any downside to using them other than having to manage them. Added a new config command called ‘nospellupspam’. When this is set, you will not see other player’s spellups unless it is someone you are fighting (so you can see their maladiction cures etc). I’m sure lots of spells were missed from this and will need to be fixed, but as the only purpose of the command is to reduce spam, what is there so far should at least help. Remember that ‘quietspell’ is used to turn off the ‘chants’ messages when someone casts a spell. The ‘Doom and Gloom’ area has been removed from the game. Contained copyright issues and was not widely enough used to be worth direct replacement. The ownership check on the ‘conceal’ spell has been removed. Conceal is more like an enchant than anything else and those don’t check ownership either. Using ‘open’ on a locked chest will automatically unlock and open the chest if you have the key. This has worked on doors for a while now. The berserk skill is more effective if used at lower hp. This is still the case but that caused it to fail too often at higher hp so have modified how that works. It should also no longer allow moves to go negative. While I was in there, also made it cost no moves or mana when used as a dwarf. Lowered the lag on success too. A failed ‘insanity’ should only have been using half the moves of a successful insanity. Now fixed. Modified the effect of level on success rate of ‘Steal’. Have also reduced the lag a little on both success and failure. The ‘double’ command will now show when double experience is running. Eqsearch now has an option to add a minimum score – items below that score will not be shown. For exxample, ‘eqsearch waist 120’ won’t show items with a score below 120. Changes specific to GMCP Friends leaving and entering the game will now show up on GMCP. GMCP messages related to the marketplace should no longer use the colors. If you have nohunger wish, or are level 201, you will no longer get a GMCP update each tick just because of hunger. Removing random resets from a room in the room editor will also clear the ‘maze’ flag used by GMCP. MUD News
