Location: Home / / Haunted House, by Aldair
And so the story goes that there was once a house in the world of Aardwolf,
the Death's Manor. No one ever goes there, for it is rumored that whomever
steps into that manor shall never emerge from it ever again. All who have
attempted to challenge the fates and step through the portals of the
Death's Manor have never ever been seen again.
It is Halloween night, and all the children are out trick and treating.
Every house is visited. Except one. No one dares to even come within a few
feet of it. Yet, there is one. One who dares to challenge the fates and
enter the Manor? He is Sir Zagarus, a newly born superhero.
Taking up his axes of aardwolf, he strides purposefully to the Death's
Manor. The night is an especially dark one. The moon does not shine. The
gloomy clouds hanging ominously above hide it. This does not in any way
daunt Zagarus. He is determined to enter and emerge alive and victorious.
The wolves howl pitifully, and the crows caw out loudly. Then, as he nears
the house, all is suddenly silent. No wolf cries, no birdcalls, just
silence, a deathly silence.
Sir Zagarus reaches the front door, and throwing it open, he takes three
large strides in. Suddenly, the door slams shut, throwing the place into
utter darkness. Suddenly and eerily, the candles lining the walls and the
stairway flare to life. An aura of evil hangs about the place. Suddenly,
Zagarus hears a deep booming laugh from behind him. Spinning around, he
comes face to face with whom else, but the ancient vampire
Strahd von Zarovich. With a blood curdling war cry, he raises his aardaxes
and charges towards Strahd. Suddenly, Strahd disappears into thin air, and
Sir Zagarus comes to a sudden halt, stunned. Then, without warning, a
trapdoor opens beneath him, and he falls headlong into it. It is a
bottomless pit, which none have ever survived. His screams can be heard for
miles and miles.
And so the story goes that there was once a Manor in the lands of Aardwolf,
from which none have ever survived after entering.
