The clanonly flag was originally adopted in January 1999, as an option to
prevent clan equipment from being stolen by clan spies. It costs 3 million
gold and is added to objects at their creation, as part of the item upgrade
 request.

Items with the clanonly flag will not save on any character which is not a
member of the same clan as the equipment. If a flagged item is bought by
someone other than members of that clan, the flag is stripped. This allows
raiders to keep equipment, but prevents giving an item to a non/other-
clanned player by a member of the clan.

A clanadmin command, 'clanadmin flag', was later added to allow leaders to
remove this flag, often as prizes. It may also be used to add the clanonly
flag to equipment which does not have it.

However, growing amounts of clan equipment reaching the MUD populace has
brought more restrictions. In an effort to cut down the amount of clan
equipment around the MUD, closed equipment now requires both the 'clanonly'
flag and the 'clanonlyperm' flag, which prevents toggling via 'clanadmin flag'.

Clans should keep in mind that even with this flag, if you have manor
links into the clan, or you allow spouses into the clan, you may still
   be vulnerable.
