Syntax: Hammerswing - Attack all characters in the room.
Hammerswing stop - Stop swinging your hammer.
Autoswing - Toggle autoswing on / off.
Damage: Weapon damage type.
Blacksmiths are so versatile with their hammers that during combat they are
able to swing their hammer in a wide arc, hitting all attackable* targets
in the room.
Once the Blacksmith is swinging their hammer they will continue to do so
each round of combat until the fight is over, they stop using a hammer or
they run out of moves. On any given round of combat, as the hammer swings
through multiple opponents the momentum will slow down resulting in lower
damage after the first few targets. The Blacksmith is free to use other
attacks at the same time as Hammerswing.
Damage on Hammerswing depends on 4 things:
- A combination of your Str, Dex and Luck. Luck has less impact.
- Each round of combat with Hammerswing will cost 1% of your moves up
to a maximum of 100 and with a minimum of 10. The more moves that are
used by the skill, the more damage it will do.
- The longer your Hammerswing is uninterrupted, the faster your hammer
will swing and do more damage. It doesn't have to be the same target,
so you should see the damage slowly increase while fighting multiple
targets assuming you remain in combat the entire time. Maximum bonus
from this is reached at 75 rounds.
- Your percent practiced in the skill. It is 'nofail' but will adjust
damage based on practiced percent.
There are several ways you can use the hammerswing skill depending on your
playing style:
- Just type 'hammerswing' to initiate combat like an area attack. This
will begin combat with every attackable character in the room.
- Type 'hammerswing' while in combat to start swinging only against
characters attacking you - does not initiate combat with other
characters in the room. If you want to attack another character in
the room *after* starting to hammerswing, use a skill on it, or if
you are a remort use a different area attack.
- Use the 'autoswing' command to automatically start swinging when
you start to fight. This autoswing version will only hit characters
already attacking you. Note this is only checked when a fight starts,
turning it on in the middle of a fight will not activate it.
If you find yourself in an extended battle running out of moves you can
'hammerswing stop', but note that if you have autoswing on it will be
used again the next time you enter combat. Hammerswing will stop
automatically if you run out of moves and autoswing will not kick in if
if you have less than 100 moves remaining.
* An 'attackable' target is defined as any target you would be able to
'kill' normally that is either not in combat or is in combat directly
with you - either you are aimed on it or it is aimed on you. You will
not hit targets engaged with other members of your group unless you
are aimed at them.
