Below are a couple of examples on how to find a campaign mob using what's
called the 'hunt trick'.
Let's take this classic example for a campaign mob:
You still have to kill * an old woman (Dortmund)
1. runto dortmund
2. I hunt for the old woman. Here is the output I receive:
You entered: hunt old woman
You are confident that an old woman passed through here, heading east.
-this is not my mob, since campaign mobs are unhuntable.
You entered: hunt 2.old woman
You are confident that an old woman passed through here, heading west.
-also not my mob, since once again, I'm able to hunt it.
You entered: hunt 3.old woman
You seem unable to hunt that target for some reason.
-that's it! I'm unable to hunt this target, this is my mob! Now to find
WHERE this mob is:
where 3.old woman
an old woman A log cabin
So I look at a map on the aardwiki:
http://www.aardwolf.com/wiki/index.php/Area/Dortmund
Oh no, there are 7 rooms called 'A log cabin'. I'll have to check each one.
In the 1st room:
(G) An old woman sits here staring at the floor, having lost all hope.
Oh good, an old woman - I attack
Ayla gives you 2 gold coins for the smashed corpse of an old woman.
...but, that wasn't my campaign mob. On to the next room!
(G) An old woman is taking a nap here.
Another old woman! I attack again...
Ayla gives you 3 gold coins for the smashed corpse of an old woman.
Once again, no luck on it being my campaign mob. On to the next room!
(G) An old woman sits here quietly knitting a sweater.
Third time is a charm? I go in for the attack and....
Congratulations, that was one of your CAMPAIGN mobs!
Yay! So I found my mob. Unfortunately hunt trick wasn't too useful since
all of the mobs who had the same name were hiding out in rooms with the
same name! Thankfully, that isn't always the case. Here's one where using
the hunt trick saves me some time:
You still have to kill * a citizen (Kingsholm)
You entered: hunt citizen
You are confident that a strolling citizen passed through here, heading south.
You entered: hunt 2.citizen
You are confident that a strolling citizen passed through here, heading south.
You entered: hunt 3.citizen
You are confident that a strolling citizen passed through here, heading south
You entered: hunt 4.citizen
You are confident that a strolling citizen passed through here, heading south.
You entered: hunt 5.citizen
You are confident that a citizen passed through here, heading south.
You entered: hunt 6.citizen
You seem unable to hunt that target for some reason.
You entered: where 6.citizen
a citizen A Pristine Home
So I check the aardwiki map:
http://www.aardwolf.com/wiki/index.php/Area/Kingsholm
I discover that there is only one room in Kingsholm called 'A Pristine
Home', so I go there! And there is the correct mob:
A citizen sits happily at home.
I attack:
The trip causes a citizen to break his skull on the ground! He is DEAD!
Congratulations, that was one of your CAMPAIGN mobs!
Hunt trick was definitely useful in this instance!
