* Doors:

Sometimes your character will be presented with doors in multiple
directions. In this example we have a door to the east and a door to the
south:

 ---------------
 [!] [!> [!] [#]+
         -----+-

Typing 'open door' will only open the door to the east, so in order to
open both doors we need to be more specific. To open the door to the east,
type 'open east' and to open the door to the south, type 'open
south'.

* Locked Doors:

If a door is locked, you can unlock it with the correct key as long as it
is located on the ground in front of the locked door, in your inventory or
on your keyring (keys with expiration timers can not be placed on your
keyring). The simplest way to open a locked door is to just try to open the
door and if you have the key it will automatically unlock and open for you.
Keys usually load on a mob somewhere in the area; kill the mob to get the
key. Maps players have created and placed on the AardWiki often note where
a key is likely to be found:

* In-Room Portals:

Type 'enter <object>' to use an in-room portal. The in-room portal can
be seen in a room when you type 'look'. It will just look like an
object lying on the ground.

Here is an example of an in-room portal:

[ Exits: south ]
     (M) A great painting of a vast mountain range decorates one of the walls.

So you would type 'enter painting' to use this portal.

If you were to type 'enter painting' and receive the message 'You
desperately try to climb inside a painting, but fail' then the object is
not actually an in-room portal.

* Custom exits:

A custom exit will show up in a room's exit list as [ Exits: other ].
You need to type 'exits' in order to see what this custom exit might
be. If you type 'exits' and the custom exit comes up as:
 'Custom : Too dark to see.'
then you know that you need to either take a night vision potion ('help
newbie-potions') or create a light like a hallowed light ('help
brightness'). Sometimes you will need to add a couple of lights to a room
in order to see properly since the level of darkness in a room can vary.

If you can see the custom exit then in this instance you will see:
 Custom         : Unforgiving Heat
                  Name:  Escape storm

So you would type 'escape storm' in order to move into the next room.
